In September 2015, the UN General Assembly adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development that includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Building on the principle of “leaving no one behind”, the Agenda 2030 emphasizes a holistic approach to achieving sustainable development for all.
Sustainable Development Goals
There are 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets to be met by 2030 which aim to wipe out poverty by placing the world on a more sustainable economic, social and environmental path.
The Sustainable Development goals were adopted by all United Nations Member States as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.
The SDGs are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They are interconnected and address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice.
