More about solar
Solar power is created when the energy from the sun is converted into electricity. Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels comprising of semi-conductor cells are encased in glass and aluminium frames. In large scale solar (LSS) generation the solar panels convert the energy from sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity, then inverters convert the power into alternating current (AC) that can be integrated into the electricity grid.

Project information
The project comprises of a 5 MW Solar PV power grid connected installation near Nokh Village, Pokhran Tehsil in Jaisalmer District in the State of Rajasthan in Western India. The project supplies around 8,322 MWh of net electricity annually to the local electricity grid, thereby reducing 7,889 tCO2 annually. All electricity generated from this project is sold to NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN) through a power purchase agreement with NVVN.
The installation comprises a number of 5 x 1 MW power generation units, 230W solar photovoltaic modules, 8 x 500kW inverters, transformers, circuit breakers, lightening arrester, isolator, current transformer, switchyard, LT panel and earthing system.
The project aims to harness solar energy through the installation of large scale solar (LSS) generation with total installed capacity of 5 MW. Solar energy is a pollution-free, infinitely sustainable form of energy. It does not use fossil fuel. It does not produce greenhouse gases, and it does not produce toxic or radioactive waste.
